Who's going to Tampa?

We received an email last night with the list of those who were elected to delegate or alternate slots at yesterday's SCGOP convention. The top five vote-getters were State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, former SCGOP Chair Katon Dawson, House Speaker Bobby Harrell, Senator Larry Grooms and Drew McKissick.

This list does not include those elected to delegate and alternate slots at the seven district conventions held in recent weeks.

This list is provided below. To the left of the names is their number on the ballot and to the right the votes they received (some counties did half-vote delegates, which explains the half votes for some candidates).

NOTE: The names of district delegates and alternates hav3 been added to this list, after the election results for the ones from the state convention.

Looks like a list of Nikki Haley "friends"
  2. Alvin691@yahoo.com 20/5/12 13:37
How many of these were Ron Paul supporters? I know many were advertised as tea party conservatives on handouts as you entered the arena, but I had never heard of them.
  3. Rich Apgar 20/5/12 13:45
Are you not a friend of our Gov Haley.
After listening her at the Convention, I have become an even more bigger fan.

Please delete this blog post. Its this type of published info that are getting Ron Paul delegates unseated all across the country. Doug Wead, campaign adviser to Ron Paul has stated that the delegates need to stay on the down low!

Very few of the TEA party candidates made it onto this list. It mostly reads as a list of Establishment Party Hacks.

I noticed that it took you all night to get these posted. Seriously, Earl, did it take THAT long to rig the counts against the liberty supporters?

The chemtrails! AHHHHHHH ... CHEMTRAILS!!! Eating my BRAIN!!!

We know they let Larry Grooms on only because he kissed the ring of Don Bobby and the establishment types needed some political cover. Shazbot! Nanu nanu!
  9. ssmith 20/5/12 15:37
Well, Anonymous, this IS the SCGOP!

Earl, Would you publish the whole list of the top 52 vote getters. In the event the RNC waives the penalty, we might have 26 Delegates and an equal number of alternates. Therefore, some of us would like to see if we made the top 52?

To some of the folks posting above: You get elected by ALL the Republicans who are voting delegates, not just the supporters of one candidate or one faction. You earn the respect of ALL the delegates by years of working for the party. It helps if you travel around the state and work and get to know party members all around the state.

Ron Paul and his followers worked very hard and had some amazing accomplishments, far more than anyone expected. They have actually earned a certain amount of respect within the party. Now, if they decide to show their rear end now that we have a nominee - and it is not Ron Paul - they will lose all that good will, and find themselves definite outsiders to be ostracized from now on.

Same for the tea party. They have been a tremendous asset to the party, and more importantly to the conservative movement. Once again, while that is a great start, you do not earn a national convention delegate slot without broad support and acceptance within the party.

In summary, if your reason for seeking to be a delegate is to be sore losers who complain and raise hell because your presidential choice lost, then you definitely have no business being a delegate.

If your reason for wanting to be a delegate is to unite this party to defeat Obama, then you deserve a place on our team.

Finally, if you did not make it recognize, there are only so many slots and not all of us get to go. Keep working for the party, and the conservative movement. There will always be another opportunity every 4 years.

They just used big fat erasers... the ballots were required to be marked in PENCIL and then whisked away to be counted behind closed doors with no official list (is Earl's list official I wonder?) published anywhere for over 24 hours... and yet some folks on facebook were announcing they had been chosen just 2 hours after the convention ended yesterday? The whole process smells... it smells very bad indeed.

Mike Fair????? Are we serious SC? We're sending Mike Fair to represent us in Tampa. The man ranked lower than Jake Knotts, on this year's Palmetto Liberty PAC scorecard.

"I know many were advertised as tea party conservatives on handouts as you entered the arena, but I had never heard of them."

This is because the people you think are the Tea Party from SC are really political hacks or duped republicans.

The real Tea Party was started by Ron Paul supporters in 2007 December 16th to coordinate with a Ron Paul Money Bomb, NOT by Rick Santelli on the Chicago exchange floor much later or some other "official Tea Party person" in 2009. A simple cursory search of Youtube for "Tea Party 2007" would prove this....even Ron Paul himself threw boxes off a boat in Freeport Texas 2007, look it up for heaven's sake. You really should ask yourself why is it the GOP bent over backwards to hijack and obfuscate the "true" Tea Party and annihilate its real purpose and message.

SC seems overrun with folks who either simply lack the ability to perform simple research or lack any true spiritually deductive undergirdings --- It was ALWAYS RON PAUL. The WHOLE ENTIRE "New Idea to GET OFF THE COUCH" was brought on by Ron Paul and his supporters. Therefore the folks you've never heard of, who were on the "Tea Party Delegate" list are actually the real deal and have been in the political know way before you caught on and have worked tirelessly for every South Carolinian - even y'all bunch of rutter-less, money-grubbing Rmoneybot$.

This just proves how shielded (and lied to) the Palmetto State is from the truth and as far as I can tell, most don't care -- they enjoy their ignorance, their normalcy bias, it's safer for them to not take note - for then they would actually have to do something intellectual and moral about the situation we find ourselves in. They might have to put forth real effort, sacrifice and suffer (and we all know that isn't fashionable) instead of carrying on as usual with their rubber-stamping of the GOP voice, name-dropping and glad-handing, (i.e. frosting and decorating the total SH*TCAKE we find ourselves presented with a la SCGOP).

My oh my what a crowd tonight. Allow me to respond to a few of you in one posting:

Dean: This was the list that was sent to me. I suspect a complete list of all results will be released in the near future. I'll amend this posting at that time. Your comments about unity and making sure everyone who has worked hard has a place on our team are spot-on.

Elaine: Before you shoot, it would help to ask questions and get your facts in order. The list I had was emailed out at 4.17pm yesterday and was forwarded to me from a County Chair a couple of hours later. I was busy with kids so I got around to posting this earlier today when I had seen that nobody else was reporting the results. No conspiracy or cover-up took place.

The good news is that the new Lt. Governor spoke and I believe faithfully spoke in favor of strict interpretation of the Constitution. I believe he was not just talking about that of South Carolina, but also the US, and the conscience of your Faith.
  17. Anonymous 20/5/12 19:15
The Politicians are very smart and they had a list of suggested candidates called Victory Through Unity, they stated that it included delegates supporting all of the Presidential candidates, but intelligent people would not fall for that? If you looked around, some were also listed on several suggested lists also. I believe there were two Tea Party lists and one had a lot of long time Republicans on it who were maybe just trying to ride the wave? Could somebody post a copy of that list? Dean was on the Grassroots Conservative List.

They printed use Pencil, but you had to go out in the hall and get one so they announced it was ok to use your pen.
  18. Capt Elaine Magliacane 20/5/12 19:59
I was a delegate at the convention, I got my notice today at 6pm... not yesterday. You have WAY more connections than I do... I was just reporting the FACTS. I was told at the convention, the list would be posted on the SCGOP website... We should have gotten the full list of ALL the vote counts. I am personally interested in the count for the people I voted for, some of whom are going to Tampa YEAH, and some not... some of the people going I am personally AMAZED to see them on the list... No need to publish this comment unless you feel like it, just wanted you to know... the FACTS.
  19. earlcapps 21/5/12 00:59
The Blogland has requested the full list of election counts for all delegate candidates from the Saturday convention. We will publish this information should we receive it.
  20. Lisa Pereira 21/5/12 02:55
I guess the convention was packed with establishment hacks who voted for establishment hacks. It's a conspiracy because these establishment hacks were voted state delegates by establishment hacks at the district level. Who knows how deep it goes. I heard district delegates were chosen by vote by establishment hacks at the precinct level. A shame I tell you. A pure shame
  21. earlcapps 21/5/12 06:28
Lisa, sounds like you're trying to say it was never their party in the first place and they should go back from whence they came?
  22. Matthew 23/5/12 15:53
Well Sen Fair is not a libertarian, but a conservative Republican. There is a difference you know. The palmetto liberty PAC is nothing more than a Libertarian (Ron Paul) organization that is masquerading as a tea party group.
